“An answer to our prayers…” – Call to Action Impact

The WE Day Community: Kentucky staff is fortunate to interact with the recipients of the WE Care Kits each year following the event. In 2017, over 65,000 items were collected and donated to 28 community organizations to be distributed to those in need.

One recipient shared with our staff the immense impact that comes as a result of donations from WE Day. Upon dropping off donations, the counselor for the family resource center told our staff that we were “an answer to her prayers”. She shared that in the past weeks, she had been working to collect enough shampoo to provide for her students. When donations came up short, she began to buy shampoo for the students from her own finances.

The generous donations from WE Day participants and partners made it possible for her to provide students in two different middle schools with the personal hygiene items they need to maintain self-care and be successful in school.
